Share
It’s Velia here, and today’s Beauty Lab Podcast episode is a fun one. Monina and I brought in a very special guest—Slugger, the unofficial beauty mascot—and we sat down to review the products that have been following us around on TikTok and Instagram for months.
We tried them so you don’t waste your time, money, or bathroom shelf space. From Korean skincare to body oils to brow fixes to that blue lip stain, here’s the real deal.
NOTE: All the links to these products are at the bottom.
Medicube Skincare Review: The Korean Routine That Surprised Us
Let’s jump right in with Medicube, a Korean skincare line that’s been all over social media promising glass skin. One of our friends bought the whole set, didn’t love it, passed it on… and shocker: we actually really liked it.
The system included:
- Cleanser
- PDRN soothing toner
- PDRN peptide serum
- Zero Pore Pads
- Collagen Jelly Cream
Overall feel?
Clean, glowy, hydrated skin without irritation — and yes, the glass-skin vibe is real when you use the whole system.
The Cleanser Might Be the Star
Even though it says “zero foam,” this baby lathers like wild with the tiniest pea-sized amount.
Why it works:
- Deep-cleansing
- Rinses clean
- No leftover film
- Perfect for oily + combo skin
If you like a cleanser that feels fresh and light, this is it.
Toner + Serum: Easy, Comfortable, No Drama
The toner mixes PDRN with hyaluronic acid. It feels:
- Cooling
- Hydrating
- Not sticky
The peptide serum layers beautifully afterward—your skin just drinks it up.
Zero Pore Pads: Gentle Exfoliation That Just… Works
The dual-sided pads (textured + smooth) help smooth out texture without irritation.
Ingredients worth noting:
- AHA + BHA for exfoliation
- Panthenol + allantoin to calm and soften
- Sodium hyaluronate for hydration
Collagen Jelly Cream: The Sleeper Hit
This jelly moisturizer melts into the skin and gives that “bouncy face” look.
If you like hydration without heaviness, you’ll love this texture.
Goda Silk Body Oil + Perfume Oil: Light Scent, Soft Skin, Big Win
Now for the body products that won us over…
Goda Silk Body Oil
This oil is soft, light, and so easy to mix with moisturizer.
Why we liked it:
- Not greasy
- Smells clean and subtle
- Skin stays hydrated way longer
- A little goes a long way
If your arms or legs ever look dull or dry, mixing this into lotion is a total upgrade.
Goda Perfume Oil
This one had us giggling because of the “AI celebrity endorsements” claiming Rihanna and Jennifer Aniston love it. Probably not true—but the scent? Really, really nice.
What makes it interesting:
- It shifts based on your pheromones
- Smells slightly different each time
- Long-lasting without being heavy
- Easy to spread because it’s an oil
And yes, compliments were received. Multiple ones.
Brow Fixes for Sparse, Gray, or “Barely There” Brows
If your brows have thinned out—whether from hormones, age, or just life—you know the struggle.
Here’s what helped:
Step 1: Start with Clear Brow Gel
Morphe makes a great one at a great price.
It sets your existing brows so you can see your natural shape.
Step 2: Fill with a Pen or Pencil
The Sephora brow pen/pencil combo is budget-friendly and lasts forever.
The pen side lets you draw hair-like strokes so things stay natural—not blocky.
Step 3: Add a Tinted Brow Gel (Optional but SO Helpful)
NYX has affordable tinted options with tiny wands that catch every little gray hair.
This combo:
- Looks natural
- Works for sparse spots
- Adds subtle fullness
- Helps gray hairs blend in
Strong Hold Option
If your brows need heavy-duty control, the Benefit 24-HR Brow Setter really works—just know it can feel stiff by the end of the day, so it’s more of a “special occasion” product.
Wonderskin Lip Stain Review: Yes, It’s Blue. Yes, It Works.
You’ve definitely seen this one—the blue lip stain that turns into a long-lasting tint.
Here’s the real talk:
- It stays on ALL day
- It doesn’t feel dry or tight
- It doesn’t burn
- You can gloss over it if you want
- It doesn’t transfer
The only downside?
Picking your shade online. The color “Lovely” looked rosy on influencers but turned into a cooler nude on us. That’s just the nature of lip colors online, though.
Ideal for:
- Weddings
- Performers
- People who hate reapplying
- Anyone who wants color that won’t budge
