Arctic Restore Review: Our Spa-Day Deep Dive into Whole Body Cryo, LED Facials, Infrared Sauna + More (Bay Area)
Share
Walking into Arctic Restore felt calm, serene, and not “foo-foo” at all—more performance-meets-wellness. Owner Jessie (runner, scientist, inventor…basically a wizard) gave us a tour and walked us through each treatment so we could actually feel the benefits, not just read about them.
Why We Went (and Why You’ll Care)
We took a Beauty Lab field trip to try recovery-forward services that boost energy, calm inflammation, and support beauty from the inside out. Think: faster workout recovery, brighter skin, better sleep, and less puffiness. Bonus: whole-body cryo is standard in Europe and even covered by insurance there.
Whole Body Cryo: 3 Minutes vs. 20
Jessie explained why she swapped old-school ice baths (15–20 minutes, wet, constantly adding ice) for a whole-body cryo chamber. You stand in a chamber (head out) while nitrogen cools the air around you for just three minutes. It’s dry cold—way more comfortable—and she talks you through it so the time flies.
Benefits we noticed/learned: reduced inflammation, faster healing and repair, collagen support (skin, hair, nails), mood + energy boost, increased metabolism, and that floaty-euphoric feeling when blood rushes back to your extremities.
Zero-Gravity Chairs + Compression Boots + Multi-Wave LED Facial
Next up, we reclined in zero-gravity chairs (hello, no lower-back pressure) with compression boots that rhythmically squeezed from toes to thighs—think gentle lymphatic drainage. While we blissed out (we both fell asleep), a multi-wave light “facial mask” surrounded our faces with amber/red/infrared wavelengths to stimulate collagen, calm inflammation, and enhance microcirculation. Relaxation level: out-of-office.
Infrared Sauna: Private, Clean, Hydrating
We each got our own infrared sauna room—fresh towels, water, 30 minutes to detox and unwind. You can stream TV if you want, but we just soaked in the heat. It’s pretty, private, and yes—your skin will thank you.
Choose-Your-Own: PEMF or Lymphatic Massage Suit
We split here so we could try more.
PEMF Mat (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field): You lie on a coil-lined mat that helps restore the body’s natural magnetic balance (think daily EMF overload from phones/computers/earbuds). The goal: better relaxation, improved sleep, reduced pain/inflammation, and enhanced performance/recovery. It feels subtle during, but we both felt floaty and reset after.
Balancer Pro Lymphatic Massage: Imagine a full-body, inflatable suit (toes to upper abdomen) that gently compresses in a pattern to move fluid, reduce puffiness and water retention, and support digestion and lymph flow. Immediate “deflated” feeling—in the best way.
Localized Cryotherapy: Quick Relief Where You Need It
We both had left-shoulder tension, so Jessie used a focused nitrogen “cold gun” while monitoring skin temperature to keep it therapeutic (not frostbite territory). The release was instant and visible—hello, before/after shoulder symmetry.
